Geocaching

Geocaching - The Official Global GPS Cache Hunt Site

Just putting this as an official reminder to make sure and do this during summer. Phylah is here and we are going to BBQ it up with the 707 crew and the 530. Going to be awesome, I will have to blog on this later, but that is another topic.

A nice handle placard mixed up by my friend TwinVega. Much skill with the photoshop or whatever prog he uses. This also doubled as my badge at Defcon.  Posted by Hello

Elgin Marbles

Official bulletin: Logical Gambit's Choice waters are in this order:

1)Smart Water - the best tasting by far
2)Evian
3)Fiji

That is all - a good list to be sure, have to make a check to see that we are well stocked. I am still relying heavily on my PuR Water filtration system, one year running with the filter and it all tastes great.

Google Maps - Folsom,CA Calvary

Google Maps - Folsom,CA Calvary

Two links for Google's amazing photo imaging. From here I can get to pictures of my home church and from there is it easy to find my house.

Had to post this because the game is simply amazing and I have had a great many good times playing it with Phylah.  Posted by Hello

Editing

Started work today on editing for Bob. He was kind enough to ask my help in starting his online devotional email. Something like a subscription where a short, page length email is sent out. When I get the link I will post that so it can be checked out.

By page though I must make it clear that that means less than one page on a screen without scrolling. The idea is no one will have to scroll down to read because that tends to make people not want to read.

We had a meeting Monday about it which went very well, although, in editing I feel like I have too little to say. I need to work on discovering what someone wants from me and the ability to give them more appropriate feedback at the moment.

Dusty Brown - Representing

Dusty Brown .

Had to plug this artist. Went to alot of shows a few years back and really felt a vibe there. I came to think while I was listening something about the concept of 'representing'.

Search engines and statistics govern much of many of our worlds now. To represent in this context means to add one to the count of your group for whereever you are.

Stand up and be counted.

Say, for instance, a junglist in Long Beach, people who notice him or her and her or his music, styling or dress mark that in their head, take notice. Jungle is represented in Long Beach. Hip-hop has a lot to do with this idea I think, at one level or another. Coming from an underrepresented group makes sense to me, if that means something in the end. It's a lot of noise and seems to be everywhere now, what's being done with it no longer has those intensions in mind. But in consideration of its 'roots', where representation comes from and from which people represent, I think there have been significant contributions to music and in my case to how I think about it.

Metronome

Those who love electronic love it for many reasons. Those who don't , in my experience, have a hard time getting past the persistent beat: it is the thump -thump -thump -thumb that that sets them to think they don't really care for it.

I call that sound the audible metronome. Of course, one can always hear a metronome, that is its function. But it sets the course, a musical compass. The metronome is just that in techno, electronica, what have you. It sets dead center for all the musical complexities to surround as they in turn surround the senses.

I am amazed the remember how much energy in my life has been set to that tempo, varying speeds, some slower some intense with meaning and others without a care; that energy that brought me so high and was in the background at times when I was so low.

Tick tock went my heart as the music played.

Computer slang

A parent's primer to computer slang

This slang dictionary is a good find from the crew at Google Groups Sacland. Everything seems to be represented in the basic fashion and I think the heart was in the right place in writing the piece. Parents don't have to be hip, but they need to be aware.

I wonder what earlier equilavents were. Did parents have circulating news fliers that had articles on discovering the secret language of HAM radios so as to make sure their son or daughter was not a spy or communist subversive?

Breaker breaker the Chicken is in the Coop - or is that Trucker CB? HAM radio, it didn't go underground, it went on the road.

Upon the Sea

On beginning the Epic Tale Moby Dick

Impressive to say the least. This is, in small part, an attempt at getting to blog better. I feel that when I write something down I really have to have something to say, that it better be good, well thought out, and... such. But I understand that such a method is not entirely productive and not in the least for making records of my true thoughts and feelings.

This right here is a good example: I was going to write a few lines and look what happened. Could go somewhere... now to the Pequod.

Elgin Marbles

Playing at the digital music game. Loving all the amazing beats. Enjoying the incredible talents of all these people who are making me groove tonight. Looking into making use of my prepaid gift card on the old ITunes site. A little Groove Armada here and a little smooth jazz there should round me out just right for an amazine week of working and getting everything at school in order.

Part of the evening spent at Professor K's house. Immensely pleasureable and a wonderful time all around. But more of that later, more shopping.

"One Fine Day..." rhyme.

"One Fine Day..." rhyme.

Here is a good look into one of the very famous nonsense poems. Makes good sense though if that is what you are in the mood for.

One fine day in the middle of the night,
Two dead boys* got up to fight, [*or men]
Back to back they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot each other,

One was blind and the other couldn't, see
So they chose a dummy for a referee.
A blind man went to see fair play,
A dumb man went to shout "hooray!"

A paralysed donkey passing by,
Kicked the blind man in the eye,
Knocked him through a nine inch wall,
Into a dry ditch and drowned them all,

A deaf policeman heard the noise,
And came to arrest the two dead boys,
If you don't believe this story’s true,
Ask the blind man he saw it too!

Constantine

Constantine

I hate to say something as trite as 'looks like a good movie'. Needless to say my expectations are high although my thoughts on the subject matter vary in content. Not sure if they will stay primarily with the occult theme, wherein I think they will narrow their target audience, or they might stick to a Heaven vs. Hell motif. I think the most success could be achieved that way. Of course my higher expectations would hope there to be references to Paradise Lost and most certainly the Divine Comedy. Good Idea would be to AudioBlog this when I get out of the theatre. Perhaps one before - one after.

Chambers' words of Wisdom

Matthew 6:30
"If God so clothe the grass of the field... shall He not much more clothe you?" [Taken from the January 26 entry in Oswald Chambers' My Utmost for His Highest]

The time noted on this entry will do well to tell of the circumstances with which I write this. So, this entry I read in my devotional fits so nicely. I was reading it to try to give myself something to meditate on as a means of falling asleep. I had to make a task of this after I was kept awake by the "cares of this world," namely the noise of others whose inconsiderate nature pushes my mind dizzily in an effort to comprehend it.

But I realize to quickly in the light of God's word that to lay these things to rest is to work toward a better, more Christ like, soul. The connection to my own life is so available to me that it's hard just to type it. Rest in the soul comes like trying to fall asleep. The things I meditate on take me there and calm my thoughts into heavenly bliss or trouble my mind to torturous nightmares.

It's hard to keep going at this point, writing that is. I keep trying to think of all the ways I can help make this work in the days to come, but for the most part I need to try and sleep again knowing that God has spoken into my life. It is His assistance that smoothes the waters of of a troubled sleep and it is my prayer that it also pacify my waking moments.
