Guild Wars - The Party

Guild Wars

The party is underway and we had our first Guild Hall to prove it. Thanks to Budiak for fronting a majority of the gold and Peetree for organizing it we have what we were looking for. A dream come true for some, for others, well perhaps just something that happened.

Wow - sometimes it becomes extremely apparent how much of a nerd I am sometimes. But hey, to those who think so, I have a Guild Hall and who else can say that.

Hmmm. Well, back to some more academic endeavors.

Picture from the big installment of GuildWars:Factions. Here is to a fantastic weekend. Friends are coming up and we are going to make an event out of the preview. New places, races, and abilities; should be entertaining for all who can attend. Several good friends are also going to join us in game from other locations.  Posted by Picasa

Finalized

Application are essentially done. Hooray! I just have to get the hard copies of the letters of recommendation to the professors providing them and get those sent off as well. It is a huge relief to have them completed. In the mail and going a variety of places: now the waiting game begins.

I was also thinking that as a New Year's resolution I would tell myself to make posts more often; especially since this wonderful thing is being provided for us for free. I will try to do so, but as far as a resolution goes, I think I will avoid that. Those, I have heard, as destined to fail.

Well, until tomorrow, I hope.

Welcome to Cornell University

At least those are the words I would like to hear, or rather read. Cornell is the first of applications that has now been officially sent and there is little else I can do to help it along. All the transcripts are going to be mailed separately but I have been assured that there is no need for concern there. I put a lot of effort into my statement of purpose and I think my writing sample is a decent snipett of my interests and talent, although perhaps somewhat immature in its tone.

In the Sand Box

Sand Box

It is amazing to find others views and expressions when they are similar yet very foreign. Now, of course, this blog is almost written entirely in English but the location alone makes me aware of a human connection beyond language. To think someone that far away, sits as I do, at some form of computer, much like my own I am sure, not too much in the way of modification, and sets down her thoughts on life, technology, and yes, even a maid that tried to kill her, with a paperweight no less.

Also: if I am going to make this blog thing work I am really going to have to keep up with it. That and my intense workout program, should start that soon, or perhaps a scaled down version. Logical Gambit, if you are reading this, how was that all Caesar Salad diet? It is looking pretty good to me now.

Actually, I had thought of a new diet, I call it, the staple diet. I will explain later, but much is in the name.

Aquanine Phylos waves a hello from the territory of Kryta in Guild Wars. I must say this game is amazing; both graphically, sound, and game play. Sure has proven also what great friends I have. Always willing to help me level up and take me through new missions. Great times all and I have them to thank for it. Thanks to all the SacLand Crew!  Posted by Picasa

Engaged

Well, imagine that, posted things before that happened after one of the happiest moments in my life.

I recently got engaged to my true love Lindsey. She is incredible but my ability at words ends there. She once said that it was flattering to have taken the words out of an English grad student, and to be sure that is, for the most part, true. I did have a lot planned to say when I proposed, but my heart took over and it was overwhelmed with joy at the idea of being totally committed to this wonderful woman.

I use that phrase intentionally to bring attention to a sort of phenomena that occurred when we went to Oregon on the trip I had planned to ask her father, and mother, for permission. Psycologically I believe it's called a reticular activator. When something is on your mind, a friend buys a new car, you start to see it everywhere. Your brain is actually just noticing because you have something to relate to it in your consciousness.

The day before we left we watched some cartoon that was all about marriage, on the ride up Lindsey, unknowingly, puts in Foxworthy's "Totally Committed" CD, stand-up comedy all about marriage, there we watch the Cosby show which is about a bridal shower and Theo wanting to get engaged, and episode of Robot Chicken had three sketches about love and marriage, and there was one movie we watch that slips my mind but something was mentioned along those lines. Hard to deal with I can tell ya.

Now I am happily engaged and am looking forward to all the excitement of the planning and the pleasure Lindsey and I will have expressing ourselves to those we love through what we choose for the wedding options. I have received so very many congrats and it thrills me to see so many people I care about this happy for me.

Everyone loves Lindsey, of course, ME most of ALL!

...or Kaiser Soze will get you. Here my friend the FuzeKing warns on the dangers of running out of Mountain Dew. He came up for the Labor Day weekend for good times; a little party out at night and some relaxing kick back time at the pad.  Posted by Picasa

The Red Bull pit at Infineon Race way in Sonoma. My good friend Peetree got tickets to the Indy race there this last weekend and it was pretty intense. Hot but worth it, a lot of driving since I went back to Chico that night, but a great experience. Quite loud as well.  Posted by Picasa

Techno

The thing I think people misunderstand about grading techno is that there are a few levels by which an electronic song reaches greatness. That is, of course, true with almost every musical form. But what changes between musical forms is what those levels consist of.

It would take me too long to research and relate the nature of how classical music is most often scored by experts. But it would be a worthwhile project I might have to embark on.

But, in short for now, Electronica reaches its highest marks when it excels in sound creation and arrangement. Sound creation is the creative use of electronic equipment and software to invent sounds that have not been heard before. This is the genius of The Crystal Method. Arrangement is perfected when the sounds are arrayed in an interesting, possibly new, pattern or when the interchange of various sound patterns is especially significant. The Prodigy makes a good example for this element.

First Network

First post from the new network, very fast, so kudos go to both SBC and UPS for getting my gear and service up and running a whole three days early. From my standpoint, not a day too soon either. Missed the net and everything I have become accustomed to...

Good to be back

Had to post on more because it looks so good. Fie to anyone who says by the time this game comes out it will be outmatched. Possibly in engine form, possibly. But I have always loved this franchise and will continue to do so barring some deep error that would cause some sort of melt down in my esteem for UT.  Posted by Hello
